Some of you who have known me all my life knows that I was a thumb sucker. I sucked my thumb until I was about 9 and the only way my parents got me to stop was to take me to a dentist who cemented a retainer on the roof of my mouth. Well thanks to my thumb sucking I had really, really messed up teeth. (I'm so glad I had braces!) Well, it looks like my daughter is down the same path. I took Skye to her Dr. appointment and she looked at her teeth telling me that I have to take her pacifier away fast because it's ruining her teeth. I told her that I actually have never given her one not even as a new born but she has sucked her thumb since 2 months old. Ya, so riddle me this doc. How am I gonna take her thumb away? Cut it off!?!
You can kind of see that her teeth aren't the straightest but she'll lose them eventually! I'm just hoping the second set come in straight! Maybe I should start a braces fund just in case!!
Look how peaceful she looks with her thumb! It's gonna be hard taking her thumb away. Any suggestions on how and when I should stop her from sucking her thumb?? I really don't want her to be 9, that is way too old!!

hey shawna! k so i was a thumb sucker also and there is this clear nail polish you can buy for that and they just painted on my thumb nails and it tasted SUPER bitter and nasty and it totally broke me of my habit. You should try it. let me know how it goes! :)
I say don't worry! Thr summer before Ky goes to kinder I'll cross that bridge. Not a moment sooner. SHHH. She still takes naps at 4 1/2. I'm no dumby! She'll be fine so don't stress. YOu can't help she has snaggle teeth. JK
I think that's just what her teeth look like. Ky sucks just as much and her's aren't all messed up. Don't stress. Atleast she has teeth!

Oh how sad you have to stop her! I sucked mine til I was 8 and luckily I just had bad teeth- not from sucking my thumb. Jaxon sucks his too and everybody I see tells me I need to stop him but I am not too worried about it yet. I haven't had a dr. tell me to stop him either though. But he sleeps great, he can entertain himself when he is bored instead of getting mad. I just think she is still so little it isn't hurting her- and I have no ideas- so good luck!
